Ruger Super Blackhawk 1976 New Model.44 Mag 7.5” Description: The Super Blackhawk is one of Ruger’s most well-known firearms. It has a 7.5” barrel, large-size frame, wood grips, an adjustable rear sight, wide-spur hammer, and a safety transfer bar. My first revolver was a Super Blackhawk in.44 Magnum in the late 70s. In the older configuration and landed on a.41 Blackhawk NIB with sleeve papers and serial number all over the sleeve and box (red and white) like my old Super Blackhawk from 1977. Here was my 29-2 that I sold in favor of the plow handled Ruger Blackhawk in.41.

Barrel Length: 7 ½' Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade set on a riser fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a flat top square notched blade pinned to the top strap, adjustable for elevation and windage. Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are smooth Walnut panels with silver on black Ruger medallions. The left panel has a bruise below and behind the grip screw escutcheon and a small chip at the bottom forward edge.

The right panel has two vertical scratches which extend from above the grip screw escutcheon to the bottom edge of the grip as well as some scuffs. The grips fit the frame straps well.

There are no cracks present. The grips are in Good overall condition. Type of Finish: Blue Finish Originality: Factory Original Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep and sharp.

There is no erosion. Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 94% of its metal finish. There is a small amount of wear at the left side of the muzzle and a small mark on the base of the rear sight which continues onto the barrel. The top of the barrel over the ejection rod housing has a series of very fine scratches not noticeable except on close inspection. The cylinder has an incomplete turn line.

The grip frame has some thinning at the bottom corners. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. The serrations are sharp on the trigger and hammer. Overall, this handgun would rate in Fine condition but is in Very Good condition given the missing/broken hand spring (see Mechanics section).

Mechanics: The hand spring is either missing or broken. This means that the cylinder will not turn when the hammer is cocked unless the firearm is oriented toward the ground, with gravity moving the hand where the spring should. Ruger would no doubt send the part or fix the issue for you, but as it is the cylinder does not turn properly. There is nominal play evident in the cylinder lockup. We did not fire this handgun. Our Assessment: The Ruger Blackhawk frame has long been considered one of the strongest single-action revolver frames ever made. When Ruger introduced the Super Blackhawk, it was with the.44 magnum cartridge in mind and it has an even stronger frame. Many reloading manuals have load data for.44 magnum and then load data for.44 magnum in a Super Blackhawk. With its 7.5' barrel and nearly 10' sight radius, this would make a fantastic revolver for either target shooting or reloading. While this example does have a small mechanical issue, Ruger is also renowned for their no-nonsense warranty and will likely take care of the winning bidder. Cast wysiwyg r35 cracker.
