Basis Vector Tonearm Manual
: Flag Ad: SOLD - $ 1500.00 Basis Vector Model 1 Improved Price: $1,500.00 Original Price: $2,700.00 Days/Views: 2250 / 3052 (Posted 2012-10-26) Condition: 8/10 Very Good Accessories: Original box, manual Seller: () () Feedback: I have a very lightly used Basis Vector M1 tonearm, with RCA terminations, for sale. (It has the black arm as opposed to silver.) Note: According to an email from AJ Conti, (with Basis, obviously), this tonearm is either an improved model 1, (as it has the upgraded pivot housing material, and Basis' proprietary cabling), or a Vector 2. As I prefer to be conservative, I will list it as a Model 1 improved. FYI: I mounted this tonearm for a friend, (a couple of years ago), who had two identical Basis 2500 turntables with this same tonearm on both tables. He recently decided to sell the one he almost never listened to. (He figures he listened to it maybe a dozen times at most).
He made me an offer I could not refuse, so I bought the nearly new table and arm, (and the new cartridge that I had mounted for him on the tonearm). However, I already had a Basis Vector M3 tonearm on my old Basis 2001 table.
The instruction manual is short, concise, and filled with detailed diagrams. If one follows the 16-page manual closely to perform cartridge alignment, VTA, Azimuth, VTF, anti-skating and horizontal damping, even a novice will achieve a relatively good setup.
(FYI, that table is already sold). However, my tonearm is terminated with XLRs, as my preamp is set up to accept XLR cables only. And since I prefer to stick with XLRs, I have kept that tonearm, and am selling the one that came with the Basis 2500 table. It does come with the box, and the manual, and all of the tools. I would be glad to help the new owner install the tonearm, (and their cartridge if they wish), onto their table for no charge, assuming that they are within a hundred or so miles of the San Jose area.
(You pay for my gas though, which seems only fair to me.) I figure I could deliver the tonearm as far North as the Wine Country, as far East as the Sacramento/Stockton area, or as far South as the Salinas/Monterey/Carmel area. This tonearm does not come with the optional VTA Micrometer.
